In 2001 Winnipeg’s wrestling scene was shaken up with the emergence of an angel investor. In his mid 20’s and running a financially successful call centre in Winnipeg, John Nguyen stepped up and backed a vision presented to him by “The Mecca” Shane Madison, Mike Davidson and Andrew Shallcross. Premier Championship Wrestling was soon born, with mega stars like Eddie Guerrero and The Legion of Doom coming to Winnipeg to entertain huge crowds. But the short lived involvement of Nguyen as the financial backer has never been spoken about in long form. What inspired him to step up and pony up? What was his relationship with the wrestling talent? When did he withdraw from the company? Mike Davidson and Shane Madison share the controversial story of John Nguyen in this special edition of BeezSheez Wrestling, called “DeezSeez of the Local Reez”, heavily inspired by Darkside of The Ring.
